Growing up, my family would eat London Broil for dinner sporadically- but I don’t remember it being this tasty!! The recipe is so easy, I wonder what took me so long to tackle it on my own?! Truth, my friend is coming to visit next month from NOLA and he’s a ballin’ cook- I wanted to level up my cooking skills so we can eat some serious noms when he’s in town.
Start with a 2 lb. Beef Top Round Steak
2 Tbs Lemon Juice
2 Tbs Olive Oil
1 Tbs Soy Sauce
1 Tbs Worcestershire Sauce
S & P to taste
Marinade the steak in a ziplock bag, refrigerated for roughly six hours- flipping over half way to ensure both sides of the cut are marinaded. Remove steak from the refrigerator roughly 30 minutes before cook time and pat dry with a paper towel. I actually marinaded my steak the night before and refrigerated it for roughly 24 hours before broiling.
Preheat your oven to Broil and place the steak on a rack inside of a broil pan (this lifts the steak up off the bottom of the pan). Place in broiler on top rack, roughly 4 inches from the heat. Broil roughly 30 minutes and serve medium rare (145 degrees F) turning once.
While the steak is in the broiler, you can prepare an optional herb butter to top- we thought the London Broil was delicious on its own and opted out of the herb butter topping, but I’ll share the recipe just in case!
Herb Butter Ingredients:
4 Tbs. Chopped Butter
1 Tbs. Chives
1 Tbs. Parsley
2 tsp. Lemon Juice
S & P to taste
OurLondon Broil was served medium rare, without the Herb Butter on top. The 2 lb. cut created four servings, so we enjoyed it as left overs for lunch the next day! We have quite the freezer full of different cuts of beef- next up we will experiment with an Eye of Round Roast.. but we will definitely be having this London Broil again!
