It might not officially be summer according to the calendar, but it sure has arrived in Texas! I can always tell when the summer season hits the city… the sun is hot and so is the ‘breeze.’ As the triple digit temperatures approach, I wanted to make sure y’all took advantage of the summer fun Austin has to offer!
Austin is by nature a very active city and has some of the greatest outdoor activities. I love starting off my morning with a cold brew on Mozart’s large outdoor deck! You can take it easy by visiting various shops around the city in places like South Congress, The Domain and Hill Country Galleria. For those who are feeling a little more adventurous, try paddle boarding on Lady Bird Lake, Yoga in Republic Square or Hiking Mt. Bonnell for a stellar view of the 360 bridge! There’s so much to love about Austin, try being a tourist for the day and visiting all of the Murals around town, picnic in Zilker park and see a film as part of the Movies in the Park summer series. Grab a few friends a spend your summer evenings on a Pub Crawler, see a concert at Nutty Brown or even a Round Rock Express game!
There’s so many outdoor activities to take advantage of before the sizzling heat arrives, but when it does, you can take shelter in one (or several) of the air-conditioned bars or take sanctuary by water.
Austin also has several options when it comes to beating the heat ‘swim’ style with 27 free pools located throughout the city as well as 12 splash pads- just push those kids out of the way. Some other go to spots for swimming include Barton Springs Pool, Hamilton Pool, Greenbelt, Jacob’s Well, The Blue Hole and Deep Eddy Pool! if you feel like traveling a little further south of the Austin, check out Canyon Lake or go tubing on the Guadalupe. In addition to the opportunity for numerous pool days, we also have Lake Travis at our convenience, try renting a party boat and sip a cocktail at Devil’s Cove! If you’re really feeling adventurous, try your hand at surfing at NLand Surf and hang around Volente Beach Resort.
If you have any event you’d like to add or promote for the summer, please let me know! Look out for another post coming soon for some ideas of what to do on those dreary, rainy summer days!
